Bing Search Engine – I unexpectedly liked it

I've been using Google search for probably 20 years now – a really long time.

At the beginning of the era of Internet search engines, getting to page 10-20 of the search was the norm. Sometimes I got to page 20-30. I often compared search results in different search engines and usually Google was the best.

Well, in general, I was happy with Google search – otherwise, why would I have been using it for 20 years.

No doorways or other garbage, fairly adequate search results. From a user's point of view, everything seems fine.

But in the last couple of years, I've begun to notice an unpleasant trend – with a fairly specific request, “authoritative” sites get to the top of the search results, although they may not contain a specific answer – the topics just overlap. And sites with a specific answer to the request are lower in the results. Well, that is, some kind of site nepotism.

I hadn't noticed anything like this in Google search before.

And that prompted me to look for an alternative to Google search.

The main conclusion I made was that Microsoft's Bing search engine performed very well (I certainly didn't expect that!).

You probably think that I have an overly good opinion of Bing because of my low expectations. But that's not true – after the first tests with unexpectedly good results, I made Bing my default search engine 6 months ago. And since then, I've been using Bing search, sometimes manually typing in the Google site address to compare search results. So, this is not a spontaneous opinion.

In general, Bing search engine now reminds me of Google 5-10 years ago. In my opinion, Google was better at that time – now they have tightened the screws too much, pushing all small sites somewhere deep.

In general, if you are dissatisfied with Google's search engine, try Bing – you might like it.
